| Introduction |
India Design Council forges forward to put outstanding product designs on international platform with an exclusive identity and status to mark good Indian design.
Therefore, raising the profile of Indian design by increasing general awareness among industry and corporate world, towards due recognition of product, services, objects and works that conform to the processes and standards that are set by, India Design Council.
India Design Council proposes competition for designing INDIA DESIGN MARK to help define good design. The award of Good Design will also make entrepreneurs aware of ways in which the design is integral to business planning. Publicity campaigns related to INDIA DESIGN MARK will also create substantially high levels of general awareness.
The promotion of INDIA DESIGN MARK competition itself will add value and prominence for designing the projects of social and economic values to benefit Good Design process. |
| Conditions |
- Only Indian nationals – professionals and students are eligible to participate in this competition.
- Individuals employed in the design studios/design offices/companies associated with any of the jury members are not eligible to participate in this competition
- Each participant can submit maximum three entries.
- All entries have to be submitted in the specified format with specified details
- The entries sent once shall not be returned.
- The final selected symbol shall become the intellectual property of the India Design Council and the designer shall not have any right over the same.
- The responsibility to comply with the guidelines and other conditions fully lies with the participant and the India Design Council shall not be liable for any dispute raised by a third party.
- The symbol should be original work of the participant and must not infringe the Intellectual Property Rights of any third party.
- India Design Council reserves the right to assign a third party to further develop, modify, colour and define usage of the selected symbol by this process.
- India Design Council reserves the right to assign a third party to develop a brand and brand communication programme based on the basic Symbol.
- Jury’s decision is the final.
- Any entry which does not comply with the required conditions and guidelines, will be rejected.
- Entries received after the deadline will not be eligible for the competition.
- The India Design Council shall not be responsible for delay by postal services, courier agencies, etc.
- Deadline to receive entries before 5 p.m. IST on Thursday, 16th June 2011.

| Guidelines for submission |
- Entries have to be submitted in the specified format of soft copy along with hard copies as mentioned.
- Each entry should be accompanied with the entry form, typed or handwritten legibly with the participant’s signature.
- Incomplete entry forms or entries not accompanied with the entry forms shall be rejected.

| Guidelines for preparing the files for submission |
The CD shall contain seven files as per the following details, accompanied by a set of four, A4 size print outs (including the entry form).
- The symbol in a maximum size of 420x600 pixels. Name this file as "th_600_<your name>_<entry number>.jpg" This file should be in RGB mode at 72 dpi
- The symbol in a maximum size of 800x1126 pixels. Name this file as "en_800_<your name>_<entry number>.jpg". This file should be in RGB mode at 72 dpi
- The symbol (colour version) in a maximum size (length or height) of 100mm, laid on an A4 size vertical format. Name this file as "prc_100_<your name>_<entry number>.pdf" This file should be in CMYK mode at 300 dpi. Please use the template given along with the entry form.
- The symbol (black and white version) in a maximum size (length or height) of 100mm, laid on an A4 size vertical format. Name this file as "prb_100_<your name>_<entry number>.pdf" This file should be in CMYK mode at 300 dpi. Please use the template given along with the entry form.
- A brief bio data of the participant in not more than one A4 page. Save this file as "bio_<your name>_<entry number>.doc"
- A recent portrait photograph of yours, in 4”x 6” size vertical format. Name this file as "ph_<your name>_<entry number>.tiff" This file should be in CMYK format at 300 dpi
- Your concept note explaining the thought behind your concept in not more than 100 words. This is a part of the entry form, attached with this file.
For submitting hard copies along with the digital files in a CD, please take printouts of serial numbers c), d), e) and g) and attach these with the CD containing all the 7 digital files.
Write your name and entry number on the CD. Make sure you have printouts of item nos. c), d), e) and g) with your signature on the entry form. Now seal the envelope, label it and mail it to the given address.

| Independent Moderator |
Member Secretary’s office of IDC shall be the independent Moderator and facilitate co-ordination between IDC, Jury and the participants. The Moderator will be responsible for:
- Receiving all submissions
- Opening the submissions after the deadline of the competition.
- Keeping a register of all submissions
- Passing the submissions to the jury for evaluation.
- Receiving written questions within the time limit stated in the rules.
- Passing the written questions received, without disclosing any names, to the jury or to the juror appointed by the jury chairperson for answering questions.
- Sending all the questions and the jury’s corresponding answers to all entrants, by a date mentioned in the rules.

| Selection Process |
- All the entries received by the deadline date and time and found in order shall be evaluated by a Jury.
- Ten entries shall be shortlisted for final selection. The shortlisted participants may be required to make a presentation to the Jury. The date, time and venue of the presentation would be communicated separately to the shortlisted participants.
- The jury will then select one winner from the ten shortlisted entries
- The India Design Council may then engage a professional design company to further develop a full brand use and brand communication programme using the basic symbol.

| Awards |
|
The Designer of the finally selected design will get a prize of Rs.50,000/- and would be required to surrender copyright of the design and indemnity IPR to the India Design Council before the final award.
